The Pre-Production Phase
Everything starts in the Pre-Production phase. This is where we lay down the roadmap before we embark on the journey. We put an emphasis on this phase because without proper planning and organization, the production can easily spiral off the rails. Planning and creating solid expectations for your video project is the first step to creating a great video.
In this stage, we work collaboratively with you to craft a video strategy that’s centered around your goals. We learn about what makes your organization tick. At this time, we plan out the overall scope of the project and establish your budget.
Once we have those preliminary steps complete, the next step is to flesh out the details of your video. We develop the story and create the script, ensuring that we continue to pay close attention to your brand messaging.
The final stage of Pre-Production is developing an execution strategy to prepare for the production stage. This includes assembling the right team to make it happen. At Ascend Studiios, we assemble a professional production crew and gather the necessary equipment for the shoot. We also aid in scouting to find the perfect filming locations for the job.
The Production Phase
Now that we’ve created a thorough plan and know how to convey your message, it’s time to start filming! Our team covers every aspect of the shoot so that you have nothing to worry about.
During the Production Phase, we’ll capture all the necessary footage for your video. We set up the professional lighting, audio and video equipment at each location. We work quickly and efficiently, providing expert attention to detail to every frame and every take.
However, the production phase is more than just filming the main subjects. We’ll also record any B-roll footage that is needed for your video. “B-roll” refers to any additional material that we’ll use to further support your story, create a certain mood and further illustrate the project. The production phase expands beyond just camera work as well. Depending on the needs of your specific video, we’ll also use this time to record any voice overs that are needed.
This is where the Pre-Production phase really comes into play. With that time we spent diligently planning out all aspects of the project, it ensures that everything goes off without a hitch. As experienced video professionals, we do everything we can to see that your shoot goes according to plan. That being said, if anything unexpected does happen, our team is seasoned enough to take on obstacles headfirst, adapt and overcome them so you’re still thrilled with your video.
The Post-Production Phase
Once our production team wraps up, all the footage and files go straight to our hard drives where post production begins.
The first step when editing is to offload all the media and back it up in multiple places so that your footage is safe. Once we have multiple copies of all the media, we organize it so nothing gets missed.
If the project is narrative driven, we’ll create a rough-cut story. We’ll deliver this first draft to you to confirm that the story is being told properly and it is aligning with our Pre-Production plan. Along with this cut, we’ll also select the music that will underscore your video and make your content even more powerful. This is your first chance to make any notes and suggest any changes you’d like made before we begin adding the B-roll.
After approval on the initial narrative cut, we’ll color grade the footage and master the audio. From there we’ll add the supporting B-roll to enhance the storyline. This new assembled video is a “fine cut”, it goes through a final review by you and once it gets the master approval, it’s sent out for the final delivery and distribution.
